I’ve been conscientiously increasing my intake of greens and fruits recently,in a bid to eat healthier and better.Other than my a-Salad-a-day resolution,I’ve been juicing up on freshly blended fruits during lunchtime.I’m lucky I have a fruit juice bar really near my office, so it has greatly helped me increase my intake of fruit.
But my favourite fruit at the moment has to be the Golden Kiwi from New Zealand.Unlike the green kiwifruit which tends to be quite sour and tangy on the tongue, the golden kiwifruit is really sweet, with a smooth creamy texture.Really yummy for a snack. But more than just the sweet taste, the kiwifruit also happens to be one superfruit according to recent research.
“The Kiwifruit is the most nutrient-rich of the top 26 fruits consumed in the world today.
It boasts body immunity:It contains the highest density of any fruit for vitamin C.
It’s good for your heart. The kiwifruit contains nutrient important for cardiovascular health. Cardiologists believe the sodium-to-potassium ratio is critical for heart health. That ratio is extremely favorable in kiwifruit.
It prevents cancer.Kiwifruit has also been shown to contain an antimutagenic component, helping to prevent the mutations of genes that may cause cancer.
It helps you perform better in sports.Kiwifruit contains a wide range of minerals (electrolytes) essential for replenishing those lost during exercise, especially in hot environments. It is also a naturally significant source of mineral for a preworkout regimen.
It helps stress reduction and better sleep.Kiwifruit contains a relatively high level of serotonin. Serotonin causes a calming effect in most individuals.
It aids in healthy weight loss. Calorie for calorie, kiwifruit is one of the most nutrient-rich fruits. You get the best balance of nutrients per calorie (the most nutrients for the fewest calories) from kiwifruit, cantaloupe, papaya and lemons.
It gives you great skin.Exceptionally high in Vitamin C, Kiwifruit benefits the skin due to it’s nourishing and regenerative properties.
It makes you happier! Inositol is found in kiwifruit. Recent studies have shown that inositol, because of its function as a precursor of an intracellular second messenger system, can be beneficial in the treatment of depression.”
