Ive been horrible to my body to my body for the last few weeks.Late nights,long hours slouched over the computer with my assignments,irregular sleeping hours,junk food and plonking caffeine and flu pills like my life depend on it.The result? Eye bags,bad skin,and perpentually sleepy!
So the recovery plan to get more Vitamin C, adequate water, sleep and exercise into my system over the next few days.Im starting to get into yoga. I did a few beginner lessons last year,but I probably will continue when i start working.But there is one position i really like now.Its called the Upward facing dog (hehe) and i do it when im watching tv! i hold the position for about as long as i can and continue watching tv,and after that i drink some herbal tea,haha.It really stretches your tummy taut,arches your back enough to loosen those back knots from sitting at the computer the whole day, and the best thing about yoga is you really get the full effect of a workout without having to swing your body around like a manic.Its really calming too.
Upward facing dog
Benefits: Opens the chest and strengthens the whole body. Up dog aligns the spine and invigorates the kidneys and nervous system.
Steps:1)Press palms down into the floor, drop the shoulders down and back, press the chest forward and reach the crown of the head up towards the ceiling. 2)Press palms down into the floor, drop the shoulders down and back, press the chest forward and reach the crown of the head up towards the ceiling. 3)Inhale and lift thighs and legs off of the floor by pressing the tops of the feet down and engaging mula bandha. 4)Breathe and hold for 1-3 breaths.(huff! puff!)
